The National Anthem of Japan

"Kimi ga Yo (May Your Reign Last Forever)" is the national anthem of Japan.

The song was adopted as national anthem of Japan in 1999 (de jure). The lyrics was written by Traditional Waka poem from the Heian period (794-1185). The music was written by Traditional melody of the Meiji period (1880).
